Rose is our CEO and switched to Hands Up full time in 2017 after five years with Save the Children. In 2010/11 she spent nine months in Damascus, studying at the University, trying out the language and wandering the fruit and vegetable markets. Syria for her is the noise, colour and scent of spice souks, the birthplace of modern civilisation and the home of hummus. She continues to be inspired by the sense of hope and sense of humour of the Syrian people.
